Marie Burns is the Assistant Director of Fundraising for the Billerica Christmas Parade.

Marie grew up in Lincoln RI and has been a resident of Billerica since 1988. Married to her husband of 37 years, Dan, she is the proud mom to her children Sarah and James.

Marie is a graduate of Rhode Island Community College with a degree in Legal Studies and worked for several years as a legal secretary before getting married and moving to Billerica. She then worked for 17 years in the Billerica School System Nutrition department (lunch lady) before retiring in 2020. She currently works as the Accounts Receivable Manager for Stellar Manufacturing in Salem NH.

Beyond raising two children and operating mom’s taxi service to get them to all their events and activities, Marie also found time to volunteer within the community. For 5 years, she taught CCD classes at Saint Theresa’s Parish, was a team member of the Baptism Preparation Program and for 4 years, a host family for the Chernobyl Children’s Project. She also Volunteered at the Dutile Elementary School Library.

Today she volunteers as a member of the VFW Post 8819 fundraising committee and enjoys her summers camping in NH.

When the Billerica Christmas Parade first came to be during the pandemic, Marie stepped in to help spread the joy and spirit of Christmas and the Holidays across the entire town. Marie is looking forward to this year’s parade.
